RING ROLL
Multi mandrel ring rolling mills TRM
For the production of small as well as large series
of rings, weighing up to 40 kg, Banning® has de-
signed ring rolling mills that operate without in-
terruption and with very short cycles.
These machines use a well-known machine con-
cept with four mandrels and one main roll. The
mandrels are mounted on a turntable that ro-
tates eccentrically around the main roll. In this
way, each mandrel moves towards and away
from the main roll as it rotates.
The machine is fully servo driven, allowing the ec-
centric mandrel (which defines the wall thickness
of the ring) to be adjusted electromechanically via
the control panel in 0.05 mm increments.
The centering arm is also adjusted electrome-
chanically via the control panel. Furthermore, the
height of the mandrels is adjusted mechanically
under the machine.
The automatic adjustment possible on the ma-
chine allows a quick production change as well as
a fine adjustment during production without hav-
ing to stop the machine.
All production parameters can be stored for fu-
ture use.
Compared to previous models of the manufac-
turer Wagner (TRM), the new kinematic design of
this machine allows energy savings of at least
20% and a reduction of maintenance costs.

The Ring
The advantages of this machine concept are the
cost efficiency due to low energy costs and
automation, the flexibility due to quick use, quick
production change and freely programmable
control system, the safety due to easy operation
and the precision due to high rolling accuracy
regarding wall thicknesses.
As the volume differences of the ring are
distributed over the diameter, a calibration press
is usually installed after the multi mandrel
rolling machine TRM to calibrate the diameter.
The machine is cost-effective and extremely
productive.
