Type AFR - Automatic Forging Roll
Banning® forging rolls of the "AFR" (Automatic Forging Roll) series operate fully automatically and are used for mass pre-distribution to the downstream forging process. Process description: • The process consists of rolling a steel, aluminum or titanium bar with a cylindrical or rectangular cross section in the longitudinal direction. This rolling action is carried out in several passes in different tools in order to distribute the volume of material in the longitudinal direction in the areas desired for the stamping operation. • BANNING® by its large experience in Motion Control has completely redesigned this type of automatic forging roll. • The new generation of BANNING® automatic forging roll integrates a magnetic field manipulator (2 axes) synchronized to the rolling rolls which are controlled by servomotors, compare to old generation of automatic forging roll which are synchronized mechanically.

well as the manipulator. It means an easier and faster installation
without need of special civil works.

This new BANNING® design eliminates the need for long and
tedious manipulator set-up time between each production run.The
automatic adjustment possible on the machine allows a fine
adjustment during production without having to stop the machine.
All production parameters can be stored for future use. The
longitudinal force of the manipulator can be fine-tuned during the

new BANNING® AFR allows an energy saving of not less than 20%.

This new BANNING® design is without clutch/brake system and
without mechanical synchronization system, the maintenance costs
